B.Y.O._ Round Three
For a typical college student having fun is synonymous with drinking. I’m not against drinking or having fun while doing it, but since when is alcohol a prerequisite to having fun? I think as college students we’ve forgotten how to have fun.
My idea of having fun growing up was to have people over for a campfire in my backyard. When I came to college I jumped on the drinking bandwagon for awhile, but then I realized that I could have just as much fun at a campfire and I had made a lot more valuable memories at campfires than my fragmented memories from a night out drinking.
There’s plenty of places to drink on campus, and legal or not, students find a way to do it. But one of the drawbacks of living on campus is that there aren’t quite as many places to have a campfire.
This year at the Townhouses we’re changing that by hosting cookouts in our “Townhouse backyard” where “We grill out to chill out.” Instead of asking people to B.Y.O.B., we started by asking people to B.Y.O.G. (the g is for grill). Our first cookout we had 75 people show up, prompting us to create the B.Y.O._ series. Our third B.Y.O._ event is coming up on October 14 at 6:06pm, and is going to be a fall-themed cookout with corn stalks, scarecrows, pumpkin pie, cider and pumpkin carving.
Everyone on campus is invited. B.Y.O.P. (pumpkin), and B.Y.O.F (food, friends, fall spirit), and come join us for a good time!
